Orientation for Commencing Students
1. All commencing undergraduate students are provided with a three week program of general orientation to the College and their courses. This is part of the three week intensive introduction to reading the Greek New Testament as set out in the syllabus for BS101 Greek 1. The intensive includes:
1.1. A one day general orientation to the College involving:
1.1.1. Address and welcome by the Principal;
1.1.2. Introduction to the College by the Academic Dean;
1.1.3. Campus tour;
1.1.4. Registration for Library, security card and public transport concession pass; and
1.1.5. An introduction to procedures for registering for units within courses.
1.2. A number of introductory sessions including:
1.2.1. An introduction to the Library and information literacy;
1.2.2. Study techniques;
1.2.3. Essay writing;
1.2.4. Studying biblical Hebrew;
1.2.5. Chapel services; and
1.2.6. The role of chaplains and chaplaincy groups (see below) within the life of the College.
1.3. Formal orientation is supplemented by a student-run voluntary residential weekend of recreation and social activities to introduce student to life within the College.
2. Most MA(Theology) students are graduates of the College and little orientation for new students is required. For those new to the College briefing and introductory information is provided by the Postgraduate Studies Administrator on a one to one basis.
3. Most Higher Research Degree students are graduates of the College and little orientation for new students is required. For those new to the College briefing and introductory information is provided by their supervisor.
