Repentance – Dr Mike Ovey
Annual Moore College Lectures 2008
5 –14 August 2008
The Rev Dr Michael Ovey, Principal, Oak Hill College London, will be speaking on the topic of Repentance.
Mike says, ‘Repentance is one of those New Testament words that is sometimes quite hard to find in books or in sermons or evangelistic talks. So when you are preaching or calling people to believe in Jesus, do you need to say anything about repentance? When you are discipling someone, how do you teach them to repent?’
The 2008 Lectures will explore the biblical theme of repentance, especially as it is found in Luke–Acts. Mike will be reflecting on preaching and teaching repentance and how repentance is involved in Christian conversion.
About the Speaker:
Mike has been at Oak Hill College since 1998, as Research Fellow and then Lecturer and College Dean. He was appointed Principal in 2007. Mike teaches Christian Doctrine, Apologetics and Liturgy.
Before coming to Oak Hill Mike worked as a civil service lawyer. After training at Ridley Hall, Cambridge, he served as curate for four years at All Saints, Crowborough.
From 1995 – 1998 Mike lectured at Moore College and is looking forward to coming back again for a visit.
