Bachelor of Divinity (BD)

The Bachelor of Divinity (BD) is our central award. It is a four year degree designed for men and women who desire a biblical and theological foundation for full-time Christian ministry. The first year only is available part-time. The first three years of the BD are the same as the Bachelor of Theology (BTh). The fourth year of study draws together the knowledge and skills learnt in the first three years. In Year 4 you can also choose from a range of enriching specialist electives.

A current Working With Children Check is required of all Moore College students.

The Bachelor of Theology (BTh) is designed for men and women who choose to graduate after three years of study. It is fully nested within the Bachelor of Divinity (BD) and consists of all units of the first three years of the BD. The first year only is available part-time.

You can take the BTh specialising in Youth Ministry with youth ministry electives in Years 1 and 3.

Advanced Diploma of Bible, Mission and Ministry

Full-time: 1 year  | Part-time study available

The Advanced Diploma gives students an opportunity to choose between three strands of specialisation.  The existing focus on mission and on lay ministry have been retained, but students can now also choose to specialise in women’s ministry.

Master of Arts (Theology) (MA Theol)

Full-time: 2 years | Part-time: 2 – 6 years

The Master of Arts (Theology) program is aimed at providing continuing education in theology for graduates in full-time ministry. Students in the program are assumed to be building on the knowledge and skills they developed in the Bachelor of Divinity (BD) program, or its equivalent.

Accordingly, MA (Theol) students are expected to demonstrate in their work, the range of skills appropriate to superior Level III undergraduate students.

The Master of Theology (MTh) is a postgraduate research award and is aimed at specifically equipping graduates for future teaching ministries.  Students undertake study primarily in one of the following fields:

  • Biblical Studies (New Testament, Old Testament, Biblical Theology)
  • Christian Thought (Systematic Theology, Historical Theology, Church History, Ethics and Philosophy)
  • Christian Ministry (Mission, Apologetics, Christian Worship).

Doctor of Philosophy (PhD)

The Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) aims to equip qualified persons for a vocation of teaching and research in theological colleges and universities and for the scholarly enhancement of Christian ministry. The Australian Qualifications Framework guidelines reflected in Higher Education practice, acknowledges that ‘a typical research…doctoral program would be expected to require the equivalent of three to four years of full-time work.

Diploma of Biblical Theology (DipBT)

Full-time: 1 year  | Online | Part-time study available

The Diploma of Biblical Theology (DipBT) is designed to provide lay theological training for the many lay people with ministry responsibilities. The Diploma of Biblical Theology comprises eight units of study. There are three core units – Biblical Theology, Gospel of Mark and Church History. The remaining five units are electives. Students can choose elective units such as The Letters of Paul, The Cross of Christ, Components of Discipleship, Engaging With Islam and Preaching and Teaching the Bible. You can choose electives to meet your ministry needs.

Preliminary Theological Certificate (PTC)

1.5 years – each level (part-time)  | Online

The PTC is designed to help you grow in your personal knowledge of God’s word. The units of study will build your understanding and appreciation of the biblical, theological and historical foundations of the Christian faith. The award has a flexible choice of study options, offering units online or by correspondence, as well as the opportunity to join evening lectures or receive coaching to enrich your learning experience.
