Principal’s Welcome

Principal's Welcome

Welcome to the Moore College website. We do hope that you enjoy exploring it. Our College is an extraordinary place where men and women are equipped to take the gospel of Jesus Christ to today’s Australia and the world. I am convinced that the blend of learning and community life at Moore is ideal preparation for the opportunities and challenges of being Christ’s ambassador in the twenty-first century. I hope you will consider joining us in this community of Christian living and learning and make your own contribution to it (See: Apply Now).

For more than 150 years, Moore College has been preparing men and women for a life-time of Christian ministry in which they will teach the Bible faithfully in the context of genuine, loving personal relationships. Our great concern remains that men and women in Sydney and around the world might hear of the forgiveness of sins that can only be found in Jesus Christ and grow to maturity in that new life which he grants to those who come to him. We know that God’s way of bringing this about is through godly, well-equipped workers who are able to ‘rightly handle the word of truth’ and who are sacrificial in their service of others.

Based on the Sydney campus at Newtown, but with satellite campuses in Croydon Park and North Parramatta, the College has a global vision while remaining committed to its core task of providing gospel workers for the Anglican Diocese of Sydney.

Students come to study with us from a wide range of church and cultural contexts. The College provides a foretaste of that day when men and women from every tribe, nation and tongue will gather around the throne of the Lamb and praise God for what he has done. Our graduates then go to serve in wonderfully diverse places in south-east Asia, China, Africa, Europe, North and South America (See: Moore in the World). Our correspondence courses extend this reach further, with around 5000 students studying the Bible and Christian theology in this way in 12 languages (at last count). Moore graduates serve as pastors, chaplains, student workers, youth and children’s workers, and theological educators right around the globe.

As you travel through this site you will see that our College is growing and changing, while always remaining true to its mission and values. There are thrilling opportunities ahead of us and some interesting challenges as well. Explore the resources which are updated monthly (See: Resources). Pray with us as we ask our heavenly Father to use us in ways which will most honour his Son (See: Praying for College). Come and visit us. You will always be welcome.
