How to Get to Moore
The Knox Lecture Theatre is located at the Moore College campus in Newtown.
Our public events will generally be held in the Broughton Knox Teaching Centre, located at 15 King Street. It can be accessed from King Street, Newtown.
You can get here by car, bus or train. We recommend if you are visiting the campus that you use Transport NSW when possible, as there is no visitor parking on campus and limited street parking in the surrounding area.
Visit www.131500.com.au for more information and to plan your trip according to the timetable and with maps provided.
Travelling by car
Parking is limited, and free parking can be very difficult to find. However, if you are driving you can try Darlington Road, Queen Street or Forbes Street for street parking.
Travelling by bus
All Sydney Buses require pre-paid tickets.
For the bus stop at King Street near Carillon Avenue (opp. 1 King Street) you can use buses 422, 423, 426, 428 or an Metrobus M30 from George Street, City or Railway Square. These are daily full-time Sydney Buses services operating between Kingsgrove, Earlwood, Undercliffe, Marrickville, Enmore, Newtown, University of Sydney, Railway Square, City - QVB, City - Wynyard, Spit Junction - Sydenham and City - Circular Quay. From the city these buses travel down City Road which becomes King Street and the College is located in King Street.
If travelling from the city alight at King Street near Carillon Avenue bus stop (the first stop after the Sydney Uni overbridge, Wentworth Building and Darlington Centre). As soon as the bus leaves the University of Sydney bus stop, press button for the next stop (King Street near Carillon Avenue). Walk to the traffic lights and cross, turn left and proceed past bus stop, the Moore College building construction site and past a terrace house to 15 King Street.
Travelling by train
The closest train station is Redfern station but there is also Newtown station. We don't recommend walking to and from either train station alone after dark, but during daylight hours and College terms, it is considered safe.
From Newtown train station, take a 15-minute walk turning right out of the station exit and walk up King Street approx. 1km towards the city. From Redfern train station, take a 15-minute walk, turning left from the station exit down Lawson Street, continue left onto Abercrombie Street and then turn right down Codrington Street approx. 1km towards Newtown. Walk past the Sydney Uni sports complex, then turn left onto Darlington Street. At the end, cross King Street at the lights, and walk towards Newtown for about 65 metres (1 min.) to 15 King Street.
Alternatively you can plan your trip to catch a bus to and from College for these stations using www.131500.com.au.
Car Parking On Campus
Moore College welcomes visitors to our campus, however currently, due to building construction, there is no off-street visitor parking available. There is limited metred street parking on Carillon Avenue and in adjoining streets. The College is conveniently located for public transport, with a bus stop opposite 1 King Street and another near the intersection at Queen Street.
We are hoping to have some limited parking available by the end of March 2015. We are very sorry for any inconvenience.
