Centre for Christian Living Event – How to find your best self
What the 20thcentury’s most famous Christian martyr can teach us about personal aspiration.
Dietrich Bonhoeffer is well known among Christians for his book The Cost of Discipleship and for the manner of his death — executed in the last days of WWII for his part in a conspiracy against Hitler. He is perhaps the 20th century’s most famous Christian martyr. Amidst all Bonhoeffer’s work on the nature of community and the ethical life, few subjects were more important than his writing about the ‘self’—that is, the perennial human question of who we really are, and who we long to be. At our first CCL event for 2017, David Hohne and Tony Payne will discuss Bonhoeffer’s extraordinary Christ-centred answers to these basic human aspirations, and show their relevance to our Christian life.
